Important 17th century New England land conveyance. 1681. Local to the early settlement of Newton in Middlesex County, Massachusetts. Newton, Mass first settlers were in 1639. Newton was New Cambridge at that time. Some of the signers and notable figures from that area mentioned in the deed. Covering the area of “The Lower Falls” by the Charles River. Some of the notable signers and figures mentioned are Richard Robbins of Cambridge. John Woodward. John Hall. Thomas Greenwood. Daniel Gookin (born 1612) a prominent figure in early Boston history. Framed under glass with double sided exposure of the document. Folding creases and some small loss to paper. Document size: 8-½” x 12-⅛”. Note: The large calligraphy letter at beginning of document.
