Ways to Bid with Tremont

In-House Bidding

Coming to the gallery on the day of the auction is always the surest way to bid, and to know exactly what you're buying. Nothing compares to the experience of raising a paddle in the sales room, and taking the opportunity to examine all lots "first hand." If travel is convenient, attending an auction is an exciting and practical way to bid and buy.

Live Internet Bidding

Live internet bidding is available online through Invaluable and LiveAuctioneers. Fully illustrated catalogs are posted to these third-party platforms weeks prior to each sale. Buyers can browse and preview these catalogs well in advance of the auction on the internet. Bidders can enjoy the convenience of placing bids online prior to the sale date or live during the auction. Please note there are additional fees collected by the platforms to bid online.

Absentee Bidding

Absentee bids or sometimes called “left” bids are bid amounts provided by the bidder to the auctioneer that indicates the maximum that a buyer would be willing to pay for an individual lot. The auctioneer executes these bids in a confidential and competitive manner on behalf of the buyer. Absentee bids may be left at the gallery in person or by telephone. The deadline for bids is 24 hours prior to the start of the auction.

Telephone Bidding

Telephone bids are available on select items. Bidders may arrange to be called when a lot is being offered in the live auction so they may execute their bid in real time. One of our experienced bidding agents will call a few minutes prior to the lot of interest and execute your bids at your instruction. Telephone bids may be arranged at the gallery in person or by telephone. The number of lines are limited, bidding is subject to approval, and is available on a first come, first served basis. The deadline for telephone bids is 24 hours prior to the start of the auction.
