1827 Georgia Slavery document pertaining to the disclosure of slaves on ships and within the state, intended to prohibit the introduction into Georgia of slaves by traders for purposes of speculation, imposing a $1,000 fine per person of color. Signed by Georgia Governor John Forsyth, Senate president Thomas Stocks, and House Speaker Irby Hudson. 10.25 x 16.5 inches folded. Central crease tear and some soiling.
