Civil War 20th Michigan Furlough Request Letter for Gilbert O. Allen in Company B, aged 32 dated August 8th 1863. This letter is asking for 20 days furlough by Allen but he was only granted 15 days. It includes a hand written notation report of soldiers in Co. B. signed by his officers as well as the 9th Army officers. It has a Cincinnati, Hamilton, and Dayton Rail Road ink stamping and includes an official business envelope of the 1st. Div 9th. Army that is marked "Private" with a Masonic Symbol. Note: This unit participated in the Battle of Blue Springs at the end of his furlough.
