Description:

French Model 1822 Mounted Artillery Officer Sword with metal Scabbard. These mid 19th Century private order swords are seldom observed though they were imported during the Civil War. Blade is 34-12" long with many deep impact knicks also light pitting and finish loss marks. Signed by the maker Klingenthal on spine of blade without any other markings. Brass hilt with wire wrapping on what appears to be a Walnut grip. Condition: Metal scabbard has had all of its original finished removed exposing a bright brass base with dings and dents throughout. Both the Hilt and Grip have heavy polish cream residue. This is a battle tested sword that was over cleaned
