Description:

Guanyin vase by Kong Jia Jun Kiln. China. Contemporary. Jun ware with "earthworm tracks" under the opalescent glaze. 12.5 x 5.125 in. The glaze on this vase was invented by Xiangqing Kong at Kong Jia Jun Kiln. The vase is covered with an opalescent glaze that appears blue to the eye, and then a copper pigment was blown. It developed a dynamic surface pattern, with areas of purple appearing upon a robin's egg blue ground, sometimes highlighted with splashes of vibrant red or green.

Provenance: From owners of Kong Jia Jun Kiln.
