Jules Bahieu. Large 1887 Paris Salon painting of Vetrie village street scene with figures and chickens. Oil on canvas. Titled lower left. Signed lower right and inscribed salon de 1887. Large original gilt exhibition frame. Sight: 35 x 46in. Overall: 55.5 x 65.5in. Recently cleaned and relined due to possible smoke exposure from a small fire in a distant part of the home. Provenance: From a longtime Boston collector's estate of over 40 years together with family items. Owner was a friend of Michael Filides at Nordest Gallery and purchased many of their pieces there. This lot and lots 205, 228A, 233, 296A and 300, were removed from our April 24th Auction on the day of the sale by the acting attorney for the consignor. They are being offer now for the first time at our October 2nd auction.
