[Nathaniel Hurd] Memoirs of the Royal Society. Mr. Baddam. London: G. Smith,1738-1741. 10 volume set. Nathaniel Hurd engraved bookplate for Robert Hale of Beverly, Massachusetts. Hale was a physician, military officer, and political figure in colonial Massachusetts (1702-1767). Bookplate only present on pastedown of vol. 1, ink inscribed name on top of free flyleaf on other volumes. Additional library bookplate for the Town of Beverly, 1919 in each volume. No other library markings present.

The 10 volume set covers scientific discoveries and discussions including botany, anatomy, medicine, scientific instruments, and more. Each volume with numerous fold out and full page plates. Bindings restored but with many original boards. 8.25 x 5.25in each.
