Description:

War of 1812 Maine-Massachusetts Military Orders to Assemble, Drill, and be Inspected. Still being a part of Massachusetts the now state of Maine was not supported by the Mass government enough to prevent military action and ultimately was invaded and occupied by British troops. Many of the male inhabitants were pressed into sea service by the enemy. Local Infantry and Cavalry units are instructed to assembly at various locations in the summer of 1812 including, Bath, Woolwich, and Georgetown to be supplied with blank cartridges by the selectman of said towns for parade fire. This document instructs many units to assemble. A nice condition 3 page general order that is mounted to a cardboard backing and appears to be able to be removed easily by a professional, having only one 1/8" tear hole at center bottom. We believe this document was issued to William D. Leonard since he was in the 1st Regiment at this time. Document measures 7-1/4" x 12"
