Lot of two Bayonets. One dug near Putnam Creek New York with a history tag stating the provenance and believed to be Rev War period. It appears as a 1795 - 1808 style Bayonet. Heavy pitting throughout this bayonet. Measures 18" overall with a 15" blade and a 3" socket. Other Bayonet appears to be a very early unusual 18th century style having the form a French Marine Bayonet or American Fusil copy. Engraved rings at both ends of socket with a pronounced shoulder. Nice Brown patina throughout with minor blade and socket slot nicks. Casting mark inside socket at shield neck. Measures 17-1/4" overall with a 9-1/4" x 5/8" wide blade and a 2-3/4" socket x .875 diameter inside socket.
